Atlanta Medical Center Demolition Paves Way for New Mixed-Use Development

Publish Date: September 26, 2025

The historic Atlanta Medical Center, once known as Georgia Baptist, is coming down piece by piece with the help of one of the largest excavators in the country — a 14-story machine tearing through thousands of square feet daily. For over a century, the site was home to a hospital, but within six months it will be cleared to make way for a major mixed-use project. Experts say developments like this — following in the footsteps of Ponce City Market and Avalon — continue to thrive as Atlanta grows, creating spaces designed to keep people living, working, and gathering in the heart of the city.
